Chemical Plant

Our Çamsan Integrated Chemical facility, built on an area of 20,000 m2, has separate formaldehyde and adhesive production plants. The facility, which started operating in December 2013, has an annual production capacity of 45,000 tons/year of 37% formaldehyde and 132,000 tons/year of adhesives with different molar ratios such as UFR, MUFR, and MFR.

At the chemical plant, by monitoring developing technologies and conducting R&D studies, research is being carried out on low formaldehyde emissions using different types of adhesive formulations, while also examining environmental conditions.

Depending on the desired results in the final product, adhesive types such as E0, E1, and E2 can be produced. With its extensive equipment, experience, and R&D capabilities, it can conduct trial productions of special adhesives before mass production using a 1 m³ capacity pilot reactor perfectly suited to the mass production reactors in use.

Çamsan Integrated Glue Plant is unique in Turkey with its technology, equipped with systems not even found in some European plants, and is a model facility that operates with full automation. The glue plant utilizes groundbreaking technology, from a storage system with elevators and shuttle conveyors for storing urea in a smaller area, to pneumatic conveying systems for melamine and urea. This pneumatic conveying system, combined with a specially developed filter system, ensures environmentally friendly production and minimizes personnel contact, guaranteeing occupational health and safety. Our glue plant has four reactors (two 30 m³ and two 15 m³), with a daily production capacity of 350 tons of UFR or MUFR glues for MDF plants and 90 tons of MFR glue for impregnation plants.

The Çamsan Integrated Formaldehyde Plant is fully automated and operates as a 100% automated system. The entire system, from methanol input to formaldehyde output, is managed automatically without manual intervention. It is a completely environmentally friendly facility; waste products such as flue gas are burned with oxygen in a catalytic converter, rendered harmless, and released into the atmosphere. Due to the highly flammable nature of methanol, a production process input, an automatically activated fire detection system is present in the methanol storage tanks.

Additional investment has been made in the treatment of solid and liquid waste generated at the glue and formaldehyde facility. With our state-of-the-art treatment plant and environmental system, the waste is disposed of without harming the environment.

Both domestic and international investors visit our facility to see the technology of this type of chemical plant, which is a pioneer in this sector in Türkiye.

What is formaldehyde?

Formaldehyde gas is the product formed by the reaction of methanol input with air through oxidation under specific temperatures and conditions, in the presence of a catalyst. The absorption of this formaldehyde gas with deionized water is called a formaldehyde solution. Formaldehyde solution can be produced in desired percentages (37-49%) depending on the purpose of production.

What is glue (resin)?

Adhesive is the product formed as a result of a condensation reaction, which is a step in the polymerization process, where formaldehyde solution or UFC (Urea formaldehyde concentration) combines with chemicals such as urea, melamine, and auxiliary chemicals under specific temperature, pH, and other conditions. Different types of adhesives are produced to produce Melamine Formaldehyde Resin (MFR) for impregnation plants, which is used to impregnate paper. Additionally, adhesives such as Urea Formaldehyde (UFR) and Melamine Urea Formaldehyde (MUFR) are produced for MDF plants, acting as adhesives in bonding particleboard fibers to form panels.
